German engineering powerhouse ZF Friedrichshafen will add an additional 100 jobs to the payroll of its northeast Georgia manufacturing plant.

ZF Wind Power’s Gainesville turbine gearbox plant launched in September 2011 with an initial investment of nearly $100 million and the hiring of some 250 workers, for which Governor Nathan Deal was largely credited.

But industry growth has mandated a second round of hiring for the 250,000-square foot plant.

April labor reports showed Gainesville had only a 6.9% rate of unemployment, outstripping the state’s three-year low of 8.9% for the same period.
